Father’s Day BBQ and Farmstand Express

Board your train at Sheepscot station for a steam-powered ride through the wild pine forests, farmlands and hamlets of the Sheepscot Valley on an extended trip along the newly-opened Trout Brook Mountain Extension to Top of Mountain where you’ll want to join our friends from SeaLyon Farm for a railroader’s BBQ!

At the cookout, feast on the offerings by Moe’s Original BBQ. Other activities include the SeaLyon farm stand store, wagon rides, games, etc. After a 90 min layover to enjoy the food, fun and festivities, we’ll all return back to Sheepscot station where you’ll want to explore our railyard, examine our displays, and peruse our gift shop. The entire experience takes about 3 hours.

Ticket price includes a seven mile round trip aboard the historic steam train, a full BBQ dinner, tractor-drawn wagon rides, admission to SeaLyon Farm, as well as parking at Sheepscot. Additional refreshments, beverages, goodies, and other farm products are sold separately by SeaLyon Farm and their partners. Note that due to the nature of this event, wheelchairs can not be accommodated at the farm.

Unfortunately, pets can not be accommodated during this special event.

The special BBQ and Farmstand Express trains depart Sheepscot station (97 Cross Road, Alna) promptly at 11:00am and 1:00pm. Please anticipate traffic conditions on Route 1 in Wiscasset.

About SeaLyon Farm

SeaLyon Farm is situated is beautifully situated amongst the rolling woods and fields of Alna just south of Head Tide and adjacent to the WW&F’s Top of Mountain station. Tractor-drawn wagons meet every train to bring each group to the farm.

Activities and vendors at SeaLyon farm will likely include:

• A complete BBQ Buffet by Moe’s Original Bar-B-Que and other select vendors.
• Jams, salsas, and lavender products from the SeaLyon Farm Store.
• Artisan chocolate, hand mixed spices, and medicinal rubs from Sugar & Spice Farm.
• Maple syrup and other treats from Marcoux Family Farm.
• Outdoor games including cornhole, checkers, and tic-tac-toe boards.
• Visits with the SeaLyon Farm goats: Pumpkin, Lavender, and Honey.

About Sugar and Spice Farm

Sugar and Spice Farm (located in Unity, Maine) grows a wide variety of herbs and spices with no pesticides or chemicals and produces world class artisan chocolate. They are often present at SeaLyon Farm during special events, sharing their gourmet chocolate, vegan products, and quality spices. Using only couverture grade chocolate, which is the highest standard for grading chocolate, all chocolates are hand dipped by an artisan chocolatier. Spice blends consist of less salt than alternatives, are free of harmful preservatives, carefully researched, and created from local sources whenever possible.

Marcoux Family Farm

Marcoux Family Farm is a disabled veteran and family owned/operated Maple Syrup Producer in Wiscasset, ME. They produce 100% pure wood-fired maple products, including barrel-aged, infused, and pure maple syrups. They are omnipresent at SeaLyon Farm during special events, selling maple confections and other goodies.

Weather and Cancellations

The BBQ and Farmstand Express train will run rain or shine. However, food and other activities may be relocated, curtailed, or cancelled in the event of inclement weather.

Passes, Vouchers and Discounts

We will be pleased to honor passes redeemed as the base portion of the train fare on the BBQ and SeaLyon Farmstand Express. Upon checkout, please select the appropriate discount for a Lifetime Pass, an Annual Pass, Alna Resident, or similar pass.
