Thank You, Maine Community Foundation!

The Directors of the Maine Community Foundation have approved a $4550 grant to our Museum for our planned event pavilion at Alna Center, to be used local concerts, historic presentations and related community gatherings. This grant is made from the Lincoln County Fund of the Maine Community Foundation at the recommendation of the advisors.

The Maine Community Foundation, founded in 1983, works with donors and other partners to improve the quality of life for all Maine people. The community foundation is committed to serve all of Maine; demonstrate respect for people and places; achieve quality and integrity in everything the foundation does; and remain nonpartisan. MaineCF is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and ensuring Maine is a safe, welcoming, and accepting place for everyone.

Our planned pavilion is a 30×80-foot structure, with a metal roof on scissor trusses. Formerly used to shelter a sailing ship restoration at the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath, the structure was gifted to us by Maine Maritime and generous donors. Last fall, our volunteers disassembled the structure and transported it to our Museum. It is now stored on our Sheepscot campus, in anticipation of reassembly at Alna Center later this year. The pavilion will greatly enhance community events held at Alna Center station.

Our thanks to the Maine Community Foundation for this generous grant!
